David Swanson earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from Governors State University after being credentialed as a Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor. This provided an opportunity to gain experience in individual and group counseling settings working with adults across the lifespan, which included the LGBTQ community. David has specialized training and experience working with individuals who have experienced depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance use.
David’s goal is to help clients achieve personal goals and navigate the barriers, constraints, or obstacles along the path. Each client travels a unique path and therapy can include combinations of CBT, mindfulness, Bowen family systems theory, logotherapy, and anger management. These options can assist clients with the tools needed to overcome the obstacles in their life. David’s lived experiences together with a blend of academic training clinical strategies provide options in his therapeutic approach.
David is available for in person and telehealth. He is in network with BCBS PPO plans.
